We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Staff Nurse (RMN) to join the dedicated healthcare team at one of the Trust in Midlands. This is a temporary role for approximately 12 weeks, providing an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and rehabilitation of young offenders within a secure environment.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Band 6 RMN with Prison clearance and a strong understanding of working in secure settings. You will be responsible for providing high-quality care to the inmate population, managing a caseload of individuals with complex mental health needs. This role requires expertise in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and the ability to work autonomously within a challenging environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions for inmates.
- Managing complex and high-risk cases in line with prison protocols.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including prison staff, psychologists, and social workers to ensure continuity of care.
- Contributing to the safe management and rehabilitation of inmates with mental health conditions.
- Adhering to safeguarding policies and maintaining the security of the institution.
Requirements:
- NMC registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
- Prison clearance is essential.
- Experience in secure environments and working with offenders.
- Strong risk management and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and within an MDT.
- Newly qualified and Band 5 RMNs will not be considered due to the nature of the role.
