Licensed Technician (B1 and/or B2 License) Reports to: Production Manager Location: Brize Norton Atlantic Aviation Group / AAG Defence Services is an MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK. We work with Airbus Aerospace & Defence to supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force’s fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. Our committed and flexible team of over 100 engineers and management are based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000 m², three-bay facility designed to optimise the maintenance of the aircraft. AAG Defence Services is a subsidiary company of Atlantic Aviation Group.
Job Purpose
An aircraft engineer required to satisfy MAA RA4801(1) approvals, performing aircraft maintenance and certification tasks in accordance with Technical Documentation and Company Procedures. May be asked to carry out limited supervisory duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out work as directed by their SLE or LE, providing assistance to other staff (any trade) to ensure safe and effective working practices.
- Address and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained in a serviceable, clean, tidy and safe condition, reporting any faulty equipment immediately using the correct channels.
- Carry out additional team responsibilities or any other reasonable request from your SLE, LE or Hangar Management Team.
- To recommend to the SLE any improvements that may increase safety and/or efficiency.
- Aim for continual improvement, using problem solving and initiative where applicable.
- Raise and complete paperwork accurately and ensure that documentation is promptly and accurately completed by any employees under their supervision.
- Ensuring paperwork is completed by close of play each day.
- At request of the business, obtain and exercise company approvals within trade to full extent of their EASA / CAA licences held, thereby providing maximum contribution to the business.
- To perform and certify aircraft maintenance IAW Technical Documentation and Company Procedures.
- Certifying own work and that of others within their team within scope of approvals held.
- To mentor Apprentices/Trainees/New Starters and to monitor these whilst working on tasks and report as necessary to the SLE or LE.
- Lead a group of engineers on task to deliver assigned work.
- Carry out any reasonable request to carry out offsite support e.g. AOG, Line.
- Remain up to date with all Read & Sign notices.
- Maintain a level of behaviour, discipline and presentation to promote a professional image, in line with company values.
Health and Safety
- Understand individual operational safety and security responsibilities.
- Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work. Including Management responsibilities as required by the H&S Manual.
- Be aware of aviation safety responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Safety Policy. Including Management responsibilities as required by the Safety Management Manual.
- Be aware of aviation security responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Security Policy.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Hold an appropriate category B1 licence in compliance with CAA Part 66, and/or appropriate experience and have completed, as a minimum MOD Phase 2 technical training, in line with MAA RA4808(1) regulations.
- Lead by example through behaviour and as a practicing engineer carrying out hands on tasks as and when time allows.
- EWIS, Fuel Tank Safety & Human Factors training.
- Must successfully achieve the role-based Competency Assessment and independent Quality Board.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to lead groups of Technicians on task(s).
- Hold a UK driving licence and be capable of holding an airside driving permit.
- Be able to apply for and hold the required security clearances to work on MoD establishments.
- Good communication skills.
- Good awareness of Aviation safety.
