Production Planning Engineer

Reports to: Planning Manager

Location: Brize Norton, Carterton, Oxfordshire

Shift: 5, 5, 4 day shift 07:00 – 19:00

Job Purpose

Pre‑input planning of customer aircraft line and base maintenance in accordance with MAA Regulatory requirements governing P145 AMO. Responsibilities include creating aircraft work packs, issuing pre‑load, task breakdown, and other scheduled maintenance planning activities. The role provides full on‑site planning support to the Production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer work pack for content to ensure it falls within AAGDS P145 scope of work as detailed in the MOE.
  • Build/assemble scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance work packages, including milestones, resource, and critical path planning.
  • Create new task cards as required, ensuring complex maintenance tasks are identified.
  • Generate equipment summary reports including access requirements, tooling, parts, and material call‑ups.
  • Identify work content requiring external agencies and subcontractors.
  • Review work content in detail, identifying complex, safety‑critical, critical path, and any tasks requiring additional P145 AMO regulatory requirements.
  • Check task cards for accuracy and completeness, applying task time estimates.
  • Organise and chair pre‑input meetings with multiple stakeholders for all base inputs.
  • Follow AAGDS MOE and procedures to ensure compliance at all times.

Health and Safety

  • Understand individual operational safety and security responsibilities.
  • Be aware of personal health and safety and that of others at work, including management responsibilities as required by the H&S Manual.
  • Be aware of aviation safety responsibilities regarding the AAGDS Safety Policy, including management responsibilities as required by the Safety Management Manual.
  • Be aware of aviation security responsibilities regarding the AAGDS Security Policy.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in using aircraft technical documentation to plan maintenance with task and ground time estimation.
  • Good working knowledge of MAA Regulations and CAMO P145 interface requirements.
  • Excellent organisational ability with high attention to detail and logical task sequencing.
  • Previous planning experience in civil or military maintenance/production planning, base or line.
  • Ability to review tasks to ensure adequate planning considering Human Factors.
  • Ability to converse with the customer at all levels of seniority.
  • Good working knowledge of AMOS or similar production planning system.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Desirable Skills

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, project management skills with lean management principles.
  • Effective, credible communicator, written and interpersonal.
  • Understanding of financial, commercial and procurement processes within AAGDS and customer needs.
  • Recognised aircraft engineering qualification.
