We are currently recruiting a Project Engineer to join our team and contribute to key projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment. This role is part of a global team working toward common goals. We operate as one company, across all locations, with shared responsibility and clear accountability.
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our growing UK engineering team, supporting the development and delivery of utility-scale solar PV, Wind Farms and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Working directly under the Lead Engineer, this role will provide hands-on technical support across all project phases, from early-stage development through to energisation, with more focus on construction phase. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to the full project lifecycle and play an integral role in the UK team’s continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Delivery
- Provide day-to-day technical support to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager throughout design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Review contractor and supplier technical submittals (design drawings, calculations, method statements, commissioning procedures) and prepare structured response trackers.
- Monitor contractor compliance with Employer's Requirements, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements, flagging deviations and supporting resolution.
- Support QA/QC activities during factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT), including attendance at witness testing where required.
- Assist with the Distribution/Transmission System Operator interface, tracking connection programme milestones and supporting alignment with the contractor.
- Support the commissioning and energisation process, including coordination with the Route to Market Provider and verification of compliance with contracted revenue agreements.
- Procurement
- Assist in the preparation of Employer's Requirements, Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ) for EPC contractors, BESS suppliers, and Balance of Plant works.
- Review contractor and supplier technical submissions, identify gaps or non-conformances against Employer's Requirements, and prepare structured clarification schedules.
- Support the tendering and down-selection process by compiling technical bid evaluation matrices and comparative assessments.
- Assist with final contract negotiations by preparing technical schedules, mark-ups, and outstanding items trackers.
- Acquisitions & Development
- Provide technical input for potential acquisitions during the due diligence and investment appraisal process.
- Conduct feasibility and yield assessments for development project to assess project viability and maximise economic returns.
- Asset Management
- Provide technical support to the Asset Manager to monitor and optimise long-term asset performance and availability.
- Conduct site visit investigations and root cause analysis to understand critical failures and propose mitigations and reactive maintenance plans.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
- Chartership certification is desirable.
- Health and Safety accreditations are desirable.
- Full UK Driving License.
Experience & Personal Skills
- 4-6 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, ideally with exposure to solar PV and/or BESS projects.
- Experience supporting technical workstreams across one or more project phases: development, procurement, construction, or commissioning.
- Familiarity with electrical systems and an understanding of utility-scale generation and storage technologies.
- Awareness of relevant UK industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g. G99/EREC G99, BS 7671, DNO connection processes).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with contractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to develop technical depth and take on increasing responsibility over time.
