AAG Defence Services is a MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK. We work in partnership with Airbus Aerospace & Defence to supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force's fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. Our committed and flexible team of over 100 engineers and management are based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000m2, three-bay facility designed to optimise the maintenance of the aircraft.
Job Purpose
An experienced Aircraft Technician, required to support the SLE with leading and coordination of the production team during aircraft hangar inputs to ensure that all maintenance is carried out safely, efficiently, and to an approved standard.
Key responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the requirements of the MOE and associated procedures.
- Understand individual and organisational operational safety and security responsibilities including but not limited to: Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety at work, including management responsibilities as required by the SMM, MOE and H&S Manual.
- Carry out all duties observing C.O.S.H.H, Risk Assessments and the Health and Safety regulations.
- Ensure that all personnel wear P.P.E as required, as provided by the company and challenge those who are seen to be non-compliant.
- Ensure that the Bay area and associated support equipment, including but not limited to aircraft ground equipment (AGE) cleanliness, general husbandry and serviceability is maintained to a high standard. Any deficiencies are reported and highlighted to the suitable authorities in a timely manner.
- Ensure that when in use, Base Hangar tool stores & the bonded cage is controlled.
- Address and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Support with the responses to audit findings and Incident Occurrence Reports (IOR) as required.
- Support the Quality Department with investigations as required.
- To support and provide SME advice during the creation of read and signs as the requirement arises.
People Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with direction from the SLE, a production team to ensure compliance with organisational procedures and H&S requirements, including, assigning tasks, and setting priorities.
- Leading by example on behaviour, discipline, and presentation to promote a professional image to internal and external organisations.
- Coordination of the Production Team: Assist new starters, employee relations and familiarisation of equipment, systems and processes.
- Assist the SLE with the coordination team training needs and skills matrix to maximise production efficiency through the Training Lead and HR.
- Assist SLE in leading the end of shift bay checks.
During Input Requirements:
- Adherence to input plan to include: Ensure that allocated staff are productive and working efficiently to ensure timely progress of inputs.
- Supporting the SLEs and LEs with estimation of defect task times and justifying as required.
- Support the cross checking the availability of spares and TQN follow up.
- Monitoring the teams time on task, duty start/finish and break times.
- Raise and complete paperwork accurately and ensure that documentation is promptly and accurately completed by the production team.
- To provide Subject Matter Expert advice and guidance on the use of tooling and aircraft ground equipment (AGE) to newer members of staff and those unfamiliar with equipment.
- To perform aircraft maintenance IAW Technical Documentation and Company Procedures.
- Liaise with the SLE to maintain effective communication and ensure issues are escalated as required.
Post input:
- Ensure serviceable spares are returned to Building 1300 stores with correct documentation.
- Archive all tool control paperwork at the end of input.
- Work with colleagues to share knowledge and experience to better the performance of the organisation.
General Responsibilities:
- Assist the Tool Custodian during the start and end of day to issue out and return tool, equipment & FLAP.
- Carry out work as directed by Management Team aiding other staff (any trade) to ensure safe and effective working practices.
- Remain up to date with all Read & Sign notices.
- Any reasonable requirements to support the organisations, leading where requested from management specific tasks & projects.
- At request of the business: Carry out offsite support e.g. AOG, Line.
Essential skills and qualifications:
- An experienced Aircraft Technician with strong working knowledge of aircraft systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.

- Highly developed awareness of Aviation safety.
