AAG Defence Services is a MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK. We work in partnership with Airbus Aerospace & Defence to supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force’s fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. Our committed and flexible team of over 100 engineers and management are based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000m², three-bay facility designed to optimise the maintenance of the aircraft. AAG Defence Services is a subsidiary company of Atlantic Aviation Group.
Job Purpose
A leadership and management position requiring a level of strategic thinking and planning as part of the core management team. To provide effective leadership for the identification, development, maintenance and supervision of all Planning activities, Technical Services and Customer Liaison activities in compliance with MAA regulations. Must be able to lead a skilled and knowledgeable workforce to deliver planning management, minimising costs and maximising operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Provide effective leadership to functions under their responsibility by setting performance indicators to enable effective monitoring and review of performance.
- Ensure all maintenance planning, technical services and maintenance meets MAA regulations for the completion, control, storage and management of airworthiness records.
- Ensure compliance with MAA Part 145 associated regulations (including Air Safety Management), H&S legislation and company policies / procedures (including Quality and Safety Management System(s)) for the activities and output of their team.
- Ensure a rigorous process of development & production of agreed work packages, including the technical instructions, resource and materiel requirements, for all scheduled maintenance events.
- Manage the day-to-day Maintenance Planning, Technical Services and Customer Liaison interface with Engineering Services, and the Part 145 organisation(s) and third-party suppliers to deliver the required standards of continuing airworthiness and contract delivery.
- Ensure that aircraft maintenance is performed in accordance with the approved maintenance program and instructions from aircraft / component / equipment manufacturer.
- Ensure that aircraft maintenance is in all cases performed by approved Part 145 organisation(s) in a timely manner.
- Lead and / or support occurrence investigations as needed by Head of Operations.
- Control and management of Airfield Engineering Standing Orders and TIs, provided by the customer, for AAGDS staff use. Act as the customer escalation route for Customer Liaison Engineers, as required, to provide clarity of communication links between AAGDS and the Part M.
- Deputise for the Head of Operations during periods of absence, to provide clear leadership and management oversight of the operations staff.
- Control and management of training for their staff, to ensure they are suitably qualified and experienced to fulfil their roles.
- To build and maintain effective customer relationships and work to deliver effective collaborative working between AAGDS and its customer(s).
- Lead a culture of positive continuous improvement and development of AAGDS staff and processes.
- Maintain a level of behaviour, discipline and presentation to promote a professional image to internal and external organisations, in line with the company values.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Lead by example to ensure that all H&S company policies and requirements are complied with by their staff.
- Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work. Including Management responsibilities as required by company H&S policy.
- Be aware of aviation safety responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Safety Policy. Including Management responsibilities as required by the Safety Management Manual
- Be aware of aviation security responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Security Policy.
- Experience in using aircraft technical documentation to plan aircraft maintenance with task and ground time estimation.
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent organisational ability with high level attention to detail and logical approach to task sequencing.
- Working knowledge of MAA Part 145 regulations, including aviation safety.
- Previous leadership and management experience.
- Ability to analyse and interrupt data.
- Ability to review tasks to ensure they are adequately planned. • Ability to converse with all levels of seniority.
- Good working knowledge of AMOS.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Project and Excel
- Primarily based in Brize Norton however travel may be required
- PPE is provided by AAG DS and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work.
