AAG Defence Services is a MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK. We work in partnership with Airbus Aerospace & Defence to supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force’s fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. Our committed and flexible team of over 100 engineers and management are based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000 m², three-bay facility designed to optimise the maintenance of the aircraft.

Shift: 5‑5‑4 day shift 0700 – 1900

Job Purpose: The Aircraft Painter is responsible for performing safe, compliant and on‑time delivery of all paint related tasks for aircraft undergoing maintenance at RAF Brize Norton in accordance with Technical Documentation and Company Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out aircraft paint tasks as directed by their SLE or LE, aiding with other staff (any trade) to ensure safe and effective working practices.
  • Ensure you are booked to task and advise SLE if additional time is required to complete a task.
  • Ensure that documents being used are correct and up to date.
  • Ensure all materials used in the carrying out of a task are recorded for commercial and recording purposes.
  • Maintain a clean working environment around the aircraft and facilities.
  • Contain any FLAP/Paint spillage.
  • Be fully conversant with relevant COSHH and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Maintain control of the paint cage and its contents, noting storage conditions, quantities and expiry dates of products therein.
  • Ensure all waste products are separated and recycled as necessary.
  • Address and report any safety concerns immediately.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in a serviceable, clean, tidy and safe condition, reporting any faulty equipment immediately using the correct channels.
  • Carry out additional team responsibilities or any other reasonable request from your SLE, LE or Hangar Management Team.
  • Recommend to the SLE any improvements that may increase safety and/or efficiency.
  • Carry out any reasonable request to carry out offsite support e.g. AOG, Line.
  • Remain up to date with all Read & Sign notices.

Health and Safety:

  • Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work, including management responsibilities as required by the H&S Manual.
  • Be aware of aviation safety responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Safety Policy.
  • Be aware of aviation security responsibilities with regards to the AAGDS Security Policy.
  • Ensure proper use of all personal protective clothing and equipment as required and provided.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • More than 3 years aircraft painting experience (or in a comparable industry) or recognised aircraft paint apprenticeship with a minimum of one year’s aircraft experience plus minimum 12 months service.
  • Completed Competency Assessment and at a satisfactory level.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good awareness of aviation safety.
  • Good communication skills.
