The role
As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you’ll be a key player in keeping our operation running smoothly and safely. Your day-to-day will include:
- Delivering goods in line with manifest instructions
- Obtaining customer signatures as proof of delivery
- Completing daily vehicle and trailer defect checks
- Carrying out full vehicle safety checks in line with DVSA requirements
- Communicating clearly with the Transport Office and customers
- Loading, unloading, and securing goods safely and efficiently
- Ensuring vehicles are parked securely and kept clean and tidy
- Complying with Health & Safety procedures, SSOW, and all relevant legislation
- Working flexibly as part of a high-performing team
- Understanding and adhering to RTD, EU regulations, and our Operator’s Licence responsibilities
- Participating in annual appraisals and continuous improvement conversations
- Occasional handballing may be required, always within Manual Handling Guidelines.
What you’ll need (essential)
- Class C+E licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Digital Tachograph card
- Fewer than 6 penalty points
Nice to have (desirable)
- 2+ years’ commercial Class 1 driving experience
- Tug experience/licence
- Proven team-working mindset
