The Network Freight General Manager will oversee and manage ATL's freight network, ensuring operational efficiency, strategic growth, and regulatory compliance. This key leadership role includes managing transportation operations, vendor relations, and route optimization while leading a team to drive service quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Operations Management: Develop and execute strategies for efficient freight operations across multiple sites. Optimize transportation routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Coordinate the movement of goods to meet customer delivery requirements. Oversee day-to-day operations to maintain high service levels and satisfaction.
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop teams including managers and X-Dock operatives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Define KPIs and performance targets aligned with company goals.
- Carrier & Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, logistics providers, and vendors. Negotiate contracts to achieve the best balance of cost and service. Monitor carrier performance and enforce service agreements.
- Network Optimization: Continuously analyse and enhance the freight network for cost control, speed, and sustainability. Implement and oversee advanced technology for route optimization and tracking. Develop freight consolidation strategies to improve efficiency.
- Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Manage the department's budget, including freight costs and operational expenses. Monitor and report financial performance metrics like cost-per-shipment and budget variance. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all transportation regulations and legal requirements. Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards. Conduct regular compliance audits and safety inspections.
- Customer Service & Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to meet delivery expectations. Address customer concerns related to freight issues and improve service delivery. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on performance and challenges.
- Technology & Innovation: Oversee implementation of systems like TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). Stay abreast of industry trends to integrate innovative solutions.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years in logistics, freight, or transportation management, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multi-site freight networks.
- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MS Office and logistics software.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Math.
- Warehouse Management: 2 years (required).
