Job Purpose
To lead the maintenance team in day to day activities to provide equipment maintenance and calibration services as required by the ATL-UK facility, in order to minimise downtime, improve customer satisfaction and drive optimisation of processes and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Health & safety: To protect the health & safety of employees by improving H&S processes and by leading by example, ensuring that the work areas comply with all necessary health and safety regulations applicable to that area.
- People development: Recruit, develop, motivate, train, support and coach maintenance staff to encourage the highest standards of performance from all employees.
- Continuous plant improvement: Assess equipment reliability and process methods to minimise equipment downtime and in process scrap, assisting with the implementation of improvements where necessary. This will include processes to measure, analyse and improve the efficiency and yield of current equipment using OEE methodologies, using data gathered to establish optimum capability of current machinery.
- Planned maintenance and calibration: Drive effective and efficient maintenance scheduling (including calibration) across all plant equipment, ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements and delivered, whilst optimising the mix of preventative (calendar & run hours based) and predictive maintenance to deliver high levels of plant reliability. Liaise with all appropriate departments to ensure that manufacturing issues are quickly addressed and that long term solutions are sought.
- New process/product development: Ensure that maintenance engineering requirements are clearly articulated, validated and incorporated into new process/product development.
- Compliance: Ensure complete compliance to prescribed Company Quality Standards, procedures and processes and to comply with the requirements of GDP and GMP. Adhere to the standards of behaviours, policies and procedures as laid out in the employee handbook.
- Others: All other essential related duties as required.
Supervisory responsibility for 3 maintenance technicians.
The shift patterns are subject to change depending on business need. Currently the shifts are scheduled over a 4 day week (Monday – Thursday) and alternate weekly; AM Shifts (5.45am – 16.00pm) and PM Shifts (11.45am – 22.00pm). You will be required to be flexible and work shifts in accordance with business need. A flexibility allowance is paid, in addition to the salary, for this requirement.
Education/Qualifications
- ONC/HNC/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

- Experienced in Preventative Maintenance systems, Manufacturing support and improvements.
- Experience within a highly regulated quality environment.
- Familiar with problem solving tools and their application.
- Working knowledge of PPM and TPM techniques.
