Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping projects and join a talented team where everyone has a voice? This is a diverse and inclusive work environment with flexible and remote working as a central part of our culture. We support you to balance work and life, including options such as reduced weeks or buying more leave. If you are returning from a career break, we can help you transition back into work with us.

We are looking for an ambitious and energetic individual to contribute to our offering in regulation, assurance and water resources across our Infrastructure business. We help regulated water companies address regulatory challenges through advisory and technical assurance activities, and the role crosses multiple technical areas such as water resources strategy, regulatory assurance of water company plans, and advisory services in economic regulation (in water and other utilities). You will work across several respected technical teams to deliver and grow our reputation for technical excellence and collaborate to win and deliver work in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • You will have the opportunity to play a leading role in delivering projects covering all aspects of water resources strategy (including supporting clients with delivery of statutory plans, or delivering research projects with UKWIR, WaterUK, etc.), audit, technical assurance and price reviews, technical/asset management, and economic regulation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across our Environment business, with other AtkinsRéalis businesses and a range of professionals (engineers, scientists, environmental scientists, customer service specialists, economists) to provide a consistent and integrated service to clients; support enquiries and provide input to proposals for the future success of the business.
  • Contribute to the production of high-quality client- and public-facing deliverables, demonstrated through excellent communication and the ability to tailor and deliver to different audiences (e.g., Audit Committees and Boards, Customer groups, Investors and Regulators).
  • Develop growing and varied experience of either working in or with water companies in a regulatory environment, including investment and business plans or reporting of performance.
  • Demonstrate experience and understanding of planning, engineering and regulatory considerations for utilities.
  • Have a technical background in one or more of Water, Wastewater, Water Resources, Water Quality and/or economics.
  • Appreciate the regulatory side of a utility business (capital and operational expenditure, investment planning, charges setting) linked to your technical expertise.
  • Experience of technical auditing is not a prerequisite as training and support are provided, but an inquisitive mindset and good report writing skills are important attributes.
  • Be client-focused and able to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, as there is a high degree of collaborative working that underpins the success of our work.
  • Likely to hold a degree in a relevant discipline, ideally be chartered (or working towards chartership) with relevant postgraduate qualifications or training.
  • Projects will be based mainly in the UK, with occasional delivery worldwide being useful but not a prerequisite.
