We deliver work across the Transmission and Distribution sectors across the UK and support other energy and infrastructure businesses. We are growing our team to enhance capability and strengthen our service offering, and are recruiting an experienced Power Systems Studies Lead to join us.
Your role:
- You will be based in Birmingham, Glasgow or Epsom as part of our Electrical Engineering team.
- Building strong, trusted relationships is key; you’ll work with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices.
- Lead and deliver complex power system studies including load flow, short‑circuit, stability, protection coordination, and harmonic analysis.
- Liaise directly with clients to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance, and build long‑term relationships.
- Coordinate with offshore engineering teams to ensure high‑quality and timely delivery of study outputs.
- Prepare and review technical proposals, contributing to winning new work and expanding our client base.
- Lead business development activities by identifying opportunities, shaping solutions, and presenting capabilities to potential clients.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and client specifications across all study work.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal capability development within the power systems team.
About You:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- Extensive experience in power system studies across transmission, distribution, and industrial networks.
- Experience with one of the transmission owners (National Grid, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks, Scottish Power) is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g., BS, IEC, IEEE) and transmission owner requirements.
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar.
- Proven track record of client engagement and successful proposal development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead discussions and influence stakeholders.
- Experience working with or managing offshore teams is a plus.
- Innovation, analytical, proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a focus on quality and delivery.
