We are recruiting an accomplished Project Manager to lead retail fit-out, refurbishment, and new build schemes for major retail clients across East Anglia. Role
Retail Project Manager: As a Project Manager in East Anglia, you will be responsible for planning, procuring, and managing multiple retail construction projects from pre-contract through to final handover. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and ensure that all works comply with contractual, safety, and brand standards. Responsibilities
- Pre-Contract Planning – develop procurement schedules, design release programmes, enabling works plans, and coordinate tender settlement/pre-contract documentation specifically for retail clients.
- Compliance & Brand Standards – ensure all works meet employer requirements, planning and building regulations, and individual retailer specifications.
- Cost Control – assist QS with procurement of materials and subcontract packages, monitor project budgets and KPIs.
- Programme Delivery – produce and maintain project administration, construction programmes, and risk management documents to ensure on-time store openings.
- Quality & CIMS – drive compliance with CIMS processes, quality standards, and continual improvement across retail project teams.
- Health, Safety & Environment – produce H&S plans, RAMS, SWMP, fire plans, and site inductions; monitor and implement remedial actions across fast-track retail sites.
- Leadership & Communication – lead project teams, mentor junior staff, liaise with retail clients, consultants, and the supply chain, and chair progress meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering retail construction, fit-out or refurbishment projects.
- Strong planning, programming, and project management skills, ideally in fast-track, multi-site environments.
- Knowledge of building regulations, structural principles, and construction techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to manage retail stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and (ideally) Asta Powerproject.
- Valid UK driving licence and CSCS Manager or Professionally Qualified card.
- Desirable: Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management (or equivalent).
- Desirable: Membership of or working towards CIOB.
- Desirable: Knowledge of CIMS quality and document controls.
- Desirable: Experience of national roll-out programmes or multi-store retail frameworks.
