The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the delivery of cost management services across multiple construction projects, acting as the primary commercial contact for clients and stakeholders. The role will involve overseeing cost planning, procurement strategy, contract administration, and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and aligned with client objectives. You will also support and mentor junior team members while contributing to business development and client relationship management initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leading pre- and post-contract cost management services across multiple projects
  • Preparing, reviewing, and managing detailed cost plans, budgets, and financial reports
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies
  • Managing tender processes and providing commercial recommendations
  • Overseeing contractor valuations, variations, and final accounts negotiations
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure, and managing cash flow
  • Administering contracts under JCT and/or NEC forms
  • Leading project meetings and providing strategic commercial advice
  • Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Mentoring and supporting junior quantity surveyors within the team
  • Contributing to business development and wider company initiatives
  • Maintaining a professional, proactive, and commercially focused approach

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a built environment discipline
  • Significant experience within a construction consultancy or contractor environment
  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience of JCT and/or NEC contracts
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently from inception through to completion
  • Experience delivering projects across residential, commercial, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software
  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement routes and cost management processes
  • MRICS status (desirable)
