We are seeking a Project Support Officer to join our Nuclear and Power team (based in Bristol, Derby, Sheffield, Epsom, or Glasgow). Our work supports a number of key nuclear programmes including the UK Submarine programme, the existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning and high integrity structures for new nuclear establishments. The team are also increasing support to a range of exciting Civil Nuclear new build projects such as the UK SMR programme of which Atkins are a major part of the consortium. We also deliver work to the wider Energy industry, making use of our strong design and analytical skills to deliver projects for other internal or external clients.

As a Project Support Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Updating and monitoring project costs on behalf of project managers, including ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Support production of project reporting including monthly client reports and month end project financial reports.
  • Track opportunities, maintaining databases and trackers as directed by your project or framework/client manager.
  • Maintaining document control systems for projects. Overseeing the creation, control, and access of all project metadata.
  • Ensuring the processes from winning work, project delivery to project closure is followed according to client and Atkins requirements.

What you can bring:

  • You will have excellent communication and numeracy skills.
  • Have an eye for detail, maintaining accurate and consistent delivery on activities.
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, capable of managing time effectively and prioritising workload.
  • Be experienced and confident in dealing with staff at all levels, have good interpersonal skills and able to develop good working relationships.
  • Able to proactively identify improvements to current processes.

The following additional requirements are desirable:

  • Have a financial/project support background, used to working to deadlines.
  • Previous experience of supporting project managers/directors or teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including the use of macros.
  • Familiarity with EDMS systems.

Although the team is based in the locations specified above, the wider Nuclear and Power business has opportunities at locations around the country, internationally and at various client sites. Flexibility on work location and a willingness to undertake secondments to other sites is beneficial.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
