The AtkinsRéalis UK Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and the home unit for our project management staff. The team is responsible for delivery of design services across Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Aviation, Energy, Stations and Urban Developments markets. Projects may be single major projects or programmes of smaller projects.
Clients include AWE, Berkley Homes, BAE Systems, Balfour Beatty, DIO, EDF, Environment Agency, Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, High Speed 2, London City Airport, Metropolitan Police, United Utilities, Scottish Water, Sellafield, Seven Trent Water, St Modwen, Thames Water and Transport for London.
Your Role
- Deliver the project to agreed targets, including programme, budget and quality, identifying and agreeing project objectives with the Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Project Director (PD) and developing a strategy for achieving them.
- Actively manage the project technically and financially in accordance with corporate and business policies, monitoring and reporting performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets, and taking mitigation actions to prevent targets being missed.
- Lead the project team – build, motivate, coach and develop team members, provide regular feedback, ensure staff have H&S training, and define communication lines and responsibilities for coordination within the project.
- Facilitate communication, coordination and information flow with the client, subcontractors and partners, agreeing resource levels, personnel and milestones internally and externally, and establishing a bottom‑up cost estimate.
- Own the project delivery programme and plans, provide regular project reports on cost and schedule, protect the commercial interest of AtkinsRéalis, ensure timely invoicing and credit control, and monitor revenue versus predicted costs, including earned‑value reporting.
About You
- Chartered Engineer or architect with experience on design commissions for large infrastructure projects in the relevant market sectors.
- Familiarity with Scope Definition papers, Project Execution Plans, Risk Registers, Change Control Logs and Client & Stakeholder Management plans.
- Experience managing small and medium sized design projects to time, cost and quality objectives, and familiarity with programming and earned‑value techniques.
- Experience with BIM, 3D modelling tools for design and coordination, and understanding of information attributes that can be captured and managed within the model.

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency for 5 years or longer.
