Overview

In this role, you will support the development and maintenance of data models, dashboards, and performance reporting within the Project Controls function.

Working closely with senior team members, you will contribute to producing high‑quality insights that enable effective decision‑making across the project.

This position offers the opportunity to build deeper capability in Power BI, project controls processes, and data analysis within a fast‑paced project environment.

A pre‑screening technical test will be required as part of the recruitment process.

Your role

  • Data Modelling & Dashboard Support
  • Assist in developing and maintaining structured data models that underpin interactive dashboard visualisations.
  • Support the delivery of dashboards that highlight performance trends and areas of concern through clear, actionable insights.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis by preparing, organising, and validating data used in reporting outputs.
  • Project Controls Process Support
  • Develop an understanding of construction project controls processes and help document business processes with digitalisation in mind.
  • Work with senior team members to ensure reporting inputs adhere to agreed processes and quality standards.
  • Reporting & Performance Insights
  • Support the preparation of periodic and ad‑hoc reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely submission.
  • Assist in compiling the monthly project review pack and ensuring information flows effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Help collate KPIs and progress data related to time, cost, risk, change, and quality.
  • Performance Measurement & Integration
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of performance measurement systems, such as Earned Value Management (EVM), under guidance from senior team members.
  • Help integrate schedule, cost, scope, quality, risk, and change data to create a holistic view of project health.
  • Provide initial interpretation of monthly reporting outputs to support timely decision‑making.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in sharing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to improve reporting, tools, and data processes within the Project Controls community.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience in transforming and organising data sets using Power Query or similar tools.
  • Experience in developing structured data models incorporating fact and dimension tables, with the ability to define and manage relationships within Power BI.
  • Competency in data manipulation and analysis, preferably with exposure to DAX for calculations and insights.
  • Experience in creating or supporting the development of Power BI dashboards, with an understanding of how to translate data into meaningful visual insights.
  • Strong skills in Advanced Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, visualisation techniques, and automation to support robust reporting and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) to support workflow creation, data capture, and visualisation.
  • Experience working within a Project Controls environment on large or complex construction or infrastructure programmes.
  • Understanding of schedule, cost, and risk management principles.
  • Previous involvement in a Project Controls team within a major project setting.
  • Awareness of the transport, energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors, including familiarity with NEC contract environments.
