Principles Testing Engineer (Testing and Commissioning) (11) IRSE 1.3.180, 1.3.170 AtkinsRéalis is the largest engineering consultancy in the UK, the largest multi-disciplinary consultancy in Europe, and the seventh largest design firm in the world. The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is an exciting and growing team, eager to grasp modern systems, processes and concepts, within the regulatory framework that we are required to work. We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join us and carry out the basics testing of projects of all types, sizes and complexities. You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to use initiative whilst working within a highly regulated environment. Do you have excellent organisation skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels? Do you have experience, knowledge and understanding of signalling principles and how to test for compliance with them on SSI, and ideally relay based of interlockings? Reporting to the Testing and Commissioning Engineer (Principles), the work is split between fixed office based design workstation testing and site based on projects and as such there may be a requirement to lodge away for extended periods of time and to work unsocial hours. You must hold a full UK driving Licence.
Requirements:
- Experience in Railway Signalling Testing/Commissioning of any size of Projects. Concepts and Functional Tester IRSE License. Knowledge of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook.
- Thorough and detailed knowledge of fundamentals testing requirements.
- Railway Signalling experience especially in Principles of signalling testing of SSI schemes and ideally with conventional free-wired and/or geographical systems. Good knowledge of Railway Group NWR company standards requirements.
- Able to work under pressure during intense periods of commissioning etc.
- Current Driving License. Willing to work flexibly and efficiently in support of the project. Able to contribute to the management team to provide the development and future direction for the testing group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the Principles testing and commissioning of new and altered signalling systems for simple / complex signalling projects, and contribute to the testing on major signalling projects.
- MUST Hold NR CofC and MUST Hold IRSE License- Tester in Charge and Functional Tester IRSE License 1.3.190 / 1.3.170 or have held in the past few years.
- Undertake testing duties within the scope of Certificate of Competency held.
- Identify resource requirements for your projects and competent staff are utilized, ensuring they are briefed regarding their work and responsibilities and that any necessary documentation is completed.
- Encourage and promote the advancement of staff as a route to self development. Deputies for the Senior Testing Engineer (Principles).
- Upward briefing of project principles testing status to manage T&CE and Project team as required. Ensure adherence to the AtkinsRéalis rail standards, procedures, processes covering all engineering, safety, administrative and project requirements.
- Co-operate with quality, safety, and environmental objectives and contribute where appropriate to AtkinsRéalis rail commitment for continual improvement. Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures, and innovations and initiatives.
