We are seeking a Power Systems Senior Technical Advisor to join our Power Networks team within our Net Zero Energy Business. This position can be based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with a flexible mix of home-working and office collaboration. We also welcome part-time applicants. Other potential locations include Epsom or Leeds.

The sector is adapting to high penetration of modern generation, transmission and distribution technologies, energy storage, and increased demand from transport and heat electrification. Networks play a crucial role in connecting renewable energy, with transmission network operators securing around £8bn as part of RIIO T2. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy sector, deliver impactful projects, and contribute to achieving Net Zero. Your purpose:

  • Lead or contribute to innovative projects across the energy sector, providing technical and regulatory advice.
  • Summarize analyses into reports and present findings to clients via meetings and workshops.
  • Oversee work from Engineers and Graduate Engineers, reviewing and guiding their efforts.

What you can bring?

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulatory incentives in GB.
  • Leadership in engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer (IET).
  • Experience in regulatory and technical due diligence of transmission/distribution assets.
  • Experience in business plan development or assessment for utilities or innovation projects.
