Responsibilities
- Client facing / client interaction – demonstrate a deep understanding of clients’ requirements and engage with internal stakeholders to deliver support;
- Lead and manage project programmes and budgets for major infrastructure developments;
- Plan and conduct field surveys, with a strong focus on bat ecology, and analyse and interpret survey results;
- Design and coordinate ecological mitigation measures, author and review ecological reports and licence applications;
- Build and maintain client relationships, support bid preparation and drive work‑winning initiatives within the region;
- Identify, raise, manage and mitigate risks within a Project/Framework environment;
- Provide innovation on projects and within the ecology team, coaching, mentoring and supporting staff development.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant ecological qualifications – CIEEM (or equivalent) and chartership (CEcol or CEnv) or working towards chartership; membership costs will be covered by the company;
- Strong report‑writing skills: Preliminary Ecological Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Chapters, Habitats Regulations Assessments (including Appropriate Assessment) and Protected Species Survey licence applications;
- Experience with complex bat impact assessments and licensing (desired but not essential);
- Solid knowledge & experience of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments and the Defra Biodiversity Metric;
- Demonstrable experience with Biodiversity Net Gain assessments;
- Background in quality assurance and technical lead roles for projects;
- Project management experience covering technical, financial and quality assurance aspects;
- Experience on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and familiarity with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process;
- Full UK/EEC driving licence;
- A desire to contribute to the growth and development of the ecology team.
