Atkins Search are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing consultancy known for delivering high-quality cost management services across a range of sectors including education, residential, retail, student accommodation, and hospitality. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the delivery of projects across sectors including education, residential, retail, student accommodation, and hospitality. You will support the commercial management of projects from pre-contract stages through to handover, working closely with clients, contractors, and senior members of the cost management team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio while receiving structured support and mentorship from experienced Quantity Surveyors and Associates.

As a Quantity Surveyor based in Manchester, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pre- and post-contract cost management services across multiple projects.
  • Preparing cost plans, budgets, and feasibility assessments.
  • Assisting with tender documentation, procurement strategies, and contractor selection.
  • Managing interim valuations, variations, and change control processes.
  • Assisting with contract administration under JCT forms of contract.
  • Producing monthly cost reports and financial updates for clients.
  • Supporting final account preparation and agreement.
  • Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to client expectations.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, and contractors to maintain effective commercial control and communication.

Requirements:

  • Hands on experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline.
  • Chartered status or actively working towards MRICS would be beneficial.
  • A good understanding of cost management processes across pre- and post-contract stages.
  • Experience working with JCT contracts across RIBA stages and traditional procurement routes.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and numerical skills.
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
