The Safety Engineering department at AtkinsRéalis (Candu Energy) specializes in probabilistic safety analysis (PSA) for new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants, as well as supporting the operation and safety of existing domestic and international CANDU plants, including refurbishments.
The Junior Probabilistic Safety Analyst (PSA Analyst) will assist senior staff in developing and applying advanced analysis methodologies to address client and project safety and licensing concerns related to plant support, refurbishment, and new builds. This includes hazard identification, Level 1 and Level 2 PSA, failure mode and effect analyses, and assessments of internal and external events.
Location: Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
- Conduct probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems, particularly safety systems such as emergency core cooling, containment, and other safety-related systems.
- Analyze postulated accidents using state-of-the-art methodologies and computer codes.
- Perform reliability assessments and failure mode and effect analyses for CANDU systems and components.
- Develop fault trees and event trees, including human reliability and common cause failure analyses, and prepare reports for Level 1 and Level 2 PSA.
- Analyze internal events such as shutdowns, internal fires, floods, and external events like seismic activity.
- Assist in developing approaches, methodologies, and guidance for safety analysis tasks.
- Document analyses in technical notes and reports, and present findings at meetings.
