If you have a keen interest in the complex challenges the energy sector and achieving NetZero has to offer, you could be working with a variety of clients as a HV Electrical Power System Study Engineer within our Energy Networks team based from Epsom, Leeds, Birmingham, or Glasgow.
Responsibilities:
- In depth knowledge of conducting simulations and analytical studies for transmission and distribution, planning, load and generation interconnection, integration of renewables.
- Able to prepare simulation study models and carry out power system studies including but not limited to:
- Grid compliance studies for Wind, Solar, BESS and Hybrid projects.
- Steady state and dynamic power flow analysis.
- Fault Ride Through studies.
- Power quality analysis.
- Electro Magnetic Transient Analysis (EMTP) such as switching and lightning transient studies, energization studies etc.
- Dynamic simulation of networks involving HVDC, FACTS and inverter-based generation.
- Overcurrent and earth fault protection co-ordination for the transmission and distribution network.
- Unit protection calculation for transformer, motor, busbar, generator etc.
Essential Requirements:
- Masters/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
- Knowledge of Grid Codes and Power Electronic Converters.
- Expertise in system study software such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT etc.
Desirable Requirements:
- Knowledge of PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink and any other system study software.
- Competency in Python coding.
- Experience of working on traction simulation studies.
