The HVM Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading delivery and achieving technical excellence within the high value manufacturing market. The ideal candidate will have experience of cleanroom design, high-technology manufacturing facilities, process engineering systems, and complex projects.
Your role:
- Lead the design and development of engineering services for cleanrooms and high-technology manufacturing facilities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions.
- Undertake feasibility and optioneering studies; site surveys and technical assessments.
- Develop engineering solutions through the design lifecycle from concept through detailed design to commissioning and handover.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders to build strong, lasting relationships and to ensure project requirements are met.
- Support the Market Director in winning work and developing new opportunities.
- Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Undertake CPD relevant to our clients' products and processes.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
About You:
- Degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer, building services engineer or other relevant engineering qualification.
- Chartered engineer status with a relevant professional institute (IMechE, IET or CIBSE).
- Experience of cleanrooms and high technology / process manufacturing engineering industries.
- Previous experience working in a UK regulated industry e.g. semiconductor, pharmaceutical or nuclear would be an advantage.
- You will have good analytical and problem-solving skills and are comfortable using your own judgement when managing uncertainty and technical risk.
- Proven track record of leading complex projects from concept to completion.
- An in-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services serving high technology industries such as semiconductor cleanrooms, battery manufacturing dry rooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing and containment facilities for biological or hazardous processes.
- Experience in process equipment / tool hook-up.
- Knowledge of the design of low back-pressure cooling water systems would be desirable.
- Knowledge of specialist extract systems such as pyrophoric, acid, high temperature heat and dust extract systems – completion of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Local Extraction Ventilation (LEV) course would be an advantage.
- Experience working within design codes, standards and regulations typical for the high technology / process manufacturing engineering industries, including: Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments - BS EN ISO 14644; Pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing processes - EU GMP and US FDA; Guidelines Containment laboratories / facilities - COSHH and ACDP guidance.
- Experience in hazard / fault identification studies, for example, HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA etc.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD MEP and other engineering design tools for developing BFDs, PFDs and P.
