Senior Project Manager in Heath

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager, key internal and external stakeholders to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects' delivery objectives.
• Report on and review project performance, and agree solutions to issues.
• Maintain compliance with the DBFO contract clarifying roles and responsibilities within the team, resolve risks and issues in a timely manner, produce accurate reports, and create and maintain specified records including change management.
• Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate, and develop, agree and implement solutions to overcome these.
• Global or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios.
• Portfolio income and cost profiles, overseeing and challenging the Project Managers’ input.
• Client liaison on a project and portfolio level.
• Chair and drive regular project reviews to ensure the following are current and accurate:

• Project and programme risk register.
• Certificate submissions register.
• Programmes and progress against milestone dates.
• Project income and cost forecast (review of PM profiles).
• Project change.
• Project priorities (for resource allocation).
• Correspondence and queries through Aconex.
• Project change control and review of processes and procedures.

Working arrangements

• Ability and willingness to travel to other offices and depots on the network as and when required.
• Periodic requirement for site visits (night shift).
• Full Driving Licence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Dynamic and self‑motivated individual with a strong project background to deliver complex highway schemes throughout their lifecycle (scheme value: £50k‑£3m+).
• Direct line management experience of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and early careers.
• Successful delivery of programme of works on time and to budget.
• Experience in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience.
• Good understanding of roadside technology.
• Project Management skills, preferably supported by a recognised PM qualification (APM, PRINCE2 etc.).
• Minimum HNC/HND (or equivalent) in civil engineering or another construction‑based discipline.
• Broad knowledge of other design areas.
• Understanding of environmental requirements of schemes.
• Experience coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources.
• Understanding of H&S requirements related to highway construction & maintenance works.
• Knowledge of H&S legislation.
• Competent in exercising duties under CDM.
• Team leadership and management experience driving performance and productivity.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong customer focus with a service delivery mindset.
• Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience.
• Understanding of Lean principles.
