The AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice seeks experienced Associate Director/Associate/Principal/Senior Critical Infrastructure Electrical Design Engineers to join the Glasgow or Manchester team, supporting project delivery across the UK. Experience in defence and energy sectors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand project briefs.
  • Design and specify electrical systems – LV & MV power systems, earthing, renewable technology (PV/BESS), connection to the Grid, and general electrical building services systems.
  • Conduct and/or manage detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools including Trimble Prodesign, ETAP, PV design tools.
  • Prepare technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with BIM team to prepare models and drawings, demonstrating understanding of Autodesk Revit.
  • Carry out site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
  • Write reports and technical notes.
  • Maintain complete records and archives to company standards.
  • Adhere to quality, environmental and governance processes.
  • Assist in technical development of junior staff.

Office Location and Working Arrangement

Based in Glasgow or Manchester. You will attend your home office for at least 3 days a week or at site as required.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET preferred.
  • Proficiency in software tools including ETAP, Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages.
  • Familiarity with energy reduction methods and approaches to decarbonising buildings.
  • Experience designing PV and BESS systems.
  • Experience in a design consultancy and, preferably, a contractor design environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards.
  • Ability to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions and act on own initiative.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills; experience meeting with clients.
  • Comfortable working within time and cost budgets set at project briefing meetings.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment are contingent upon obtaining the relevant level of clearance. Candidates must provide proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
