Due to continued growth and projects, we are looking for an individual with practical experience of Town and Country Planning to join our team in Scotland. While access to our Glasgow or Edinburgh office is preferable, applicants from outside of the central belt will be considered. We are able to arrange flexible working to suit the right individual. Key clients in this region include the energy, transport, and defence sectors.

You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate Planning related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business, and mentor colleagues in the team.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an RTPI accredited Planning Degree and have achieved chartered status, with a strong background experience in planning consultancy or similar across a range of development types. Experience of Section 36 or Section 37 applications and DCO would be an advantage but not critical.
Your role:
- Leading and managing a broad range of planning applications and associated supporting documents for a wide range of development projects.
- Providing strategic planning advice to a varied private sector client base.
- Providing advice and planning strategy from inception to final delivery.
- Managing key client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities and supporting the continued growth of the consultancy.
- Representing clients at meetings, hearings, and public consultations where required.
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level planning professionals.
About you:
- MRTPI qualified with significant post-qualification experience.
- Chartered status.
- Proven experience within a planning consultancy environment or similar.
- Strong technical knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
- Leadership experience and the ability to manage and inspire teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a wide range of projects.
- Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other AtkinsRéalis or client office locations.
