AtkinsRéalis is seeking to appoint a Rail Systems M&E Engineer to join our Design and Engineering team. This role will support the delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership, design assurance and engineering expertise across the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, safe and sustainable solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
Your role
- Provide technical assurance and review Rail Systems M&E designs to ensure compliance with client requirements, railway standards and industry best practice.
- Lead the engineering and technical delivery of complex rail systems projects from concept through to construction and commissioning.
- Challenge and improve design and contractor proposals to deliver safe, efficient and value-driven solutions.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across signalling, power, communications, M&E and systems integration disciplines.
- Manage technical interfaces and ensure effective integration across multiple work packages and project stakeholders.
- Support engineering reviews, technical approvals and assurance processes to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies to develop practical and innovative solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation and technical excellence across rail systems project delivery.
About you
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering complex Rail Systems and M&E projects within the rail infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of systems integration and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Knowledge of Network Rail standards, railway assurance processes and relevant UK regulations.
- Experience managing technical interfaces across signalling, communications, power and M&E disciplines.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution such as IET, IRSE, IMechE or ICE, or working towards professional registration.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with a commitment to innovation, safety and engineering excellence.
