Responsibilities

  • Undertake functional testing of relay‑based and CBI interlocking and test 4‑foot trackside equipment.
  • Assist the Tester in Charge in evaluating testing resource requirements for individual tasks, brief project testing status to the Tester in charge, and ensure adherence to AtkinsRéalis standards, procedures, processes covering all engineering, safety, administrative and project requirements.
  • Undertake testing and commissioning of signalling equipment to meet contract specifications, performance and safety parameters.
  • Promote the advancement of staff under my control, actively train staff and act as the signalling works mentor, encouraging their technical progression as railway signalling engineers.
  • Co‑operate with performance appraisals, attend training courses, and maintain an IRSE logbook to an acceptable standard.
  • Perform COSS duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • MUST hold NR CofC and IRSE Licence – Functional Tester 1.3.170 or have held in the past few years.
  • Railway signalling functional testing experience at Location / Interlocking level and comprehensive equipment‑specific experience.
  • Competence in Level crossings or extensive 3BI experience.
  • NWR 3B/4 testing competency certification and/or industry‑recognised equipment‑specific specialist.
  • Good working knowledge of Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook.
  • A1 IRSE assessor for all testing categories except TIC, concepts and systems testing (desirable).
  • Good working knowledge of Railway Group / NWR company standards requirements.
  • Current UK driving licence; able to work unsocial hours and lodge away as required.
  • Ability to work under pressure during periods of high workload and commissioning.
