As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Principal Cost Manager who possesses proven experience, notably in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors, to join our Cost Management Team within our Wales & West Region Project Controls Practice. You must be ambitious with a thirst for innovation and growth to progress within our Complex Projects division. The role will involve delivering work with both existing and new clients to ensure our technical service offering is kept to the highest standard, while having a strong team working ethos and delivering in accordance with AtkinsRéalis' digital aspirations. This role will provide you with the opportunity to support team management, business growth, and enable opportunities to work with internal and external partners across the entire business.

Responsibilities
- Reporting into the Cost Management Lead, build long-term, sustainable relationships with internal stakeholders and the wider client base.
- Provide technical expertise in Cost Management services across complex infrastructure.
- Apply knowledge of industry benchmarks/best practices, Cost and Work Breakdown Structures, and methods of measurement (e.g. RMM, NRM).
- Maintain a strong network within the energy and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Lead and direct project teams, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrate service innovation, technical excellence, and exceptional service delivery.
- Monitor, analyse, and control cost performance against targets; challenge engineering teams to identify cost-efficient solutions.
- Collaborate with wider project controls teams including schedule logic and risk exposure.
- Engage in the Cost Management capability development, including Power BI, PRISM, Oracle, Deltek, Ecosys and related software.
- Support communities of practice and contribute to benchmarking capabilities and technical excellence.
- Develop and mentor junior Cost Managers and Assistant Cost Managers.
- Deliver excellent client service on commissions through quality assurance and regular client care.
- Support and lead teams on project/technical delivery and contribute to the Cost Management strategy for continuous development.
- Identify opportunities for strategic recruitment and associated investments aligned with the Complex Projects business strategy.
- Engage with the wider AtkinsRéalis business and support Cost Management business development activities.
- Monitor Cost Management activity and expenditure within remit; manage client relationships and service delivery.
- Collaborate with leaders to produce high-quality leadership material for business use and engage in internal processes.
- Support key accounts to maximise impact and lead on delivering portfolios and projects.
- Act as an ambassador for AtkinsRéalis, the profession, and the professional institutions you belong to.
- Maintain a clear understanding of project commercial accountability and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Participate in internal/external training initiatives and broadening experience aligned with core competencies.
- Mentor and develop Cost Management staff and support teams in Cost Management roles.
- Demonstrate a proven track record supervising projects for Complex Project clients and delivering in a consultancy environment.
- Degree qualified in a construction or finance-related field; preferably with RICS, ICE, AACE, CaSA or similar. Relevant industry experience in cost-oriented roles.
Qualifications
- Full working knowledge of the construction industry, understanding of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC/FIDIC/IChemE).
- Ability to develop and understand performance measurement of projects using Earned Value Management (EVM) and similar techniques.
- Major project/programmes work experience.
