The predicted salary is between 50000 - 65000 £ per year.
Reporting to the ICT Active Networks Lead, this individual will be working on projects involving ICT network infrastructure and associated services. This will involve the full design lifecycle, from supporting bids and business development activities through to network design, implementation support, testing, commissioning and representing the client's interests throughout project delivery.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering projects, supporting capability growth and contributing to the development of colleagues through mentoring, coaching and technical leadership. The role may occasionally require travel to other UK mainland locations, including overnight stays, and there are opportunities for overseas work. Applicants may be required to undergo security vetting, and any offer of employment will be subject to the appropriate level of clearance being granted.
Your role
- Leading the development of active network designs, architectures, technical specifications and design documentation.
- Designing enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN and network security solutions.
- Developing secure, resilient and scalable network infrastructures aligned to client requirements.
- Leading technical work packages and supporting project delivery activities.
- Producing and reviewing technical documentation, reports, strategies and specifications.
- Supporting implementation planning, migration activities, testing and commissioning.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineers and technicians.
- Supporting business development activities including proposals, PQQs and ITTs.
About you
- Experience leading technical work packages and design activities.
- Experience of ICT network design and delivery.
- Knowledge of enterprise LAN, WAN and WLAN technologies.
- Knowledge of routing, switching and network security principles.
- Understanding of network monitoring and management systems.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation, reports and presentations.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Attributes
- Cisco, Juniper, Aruba or equivalent certifications.
- Defence, Government or Nuclear sector experience.
- Knowledge of MoD ICT standards and guidance.
- Experience of RIBA stages of design.
- Prince2, APM or equivalent qualification.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
