Join as an Associate Lighting Designer in our Specialist and Architectural Lighting Team. We work on projects of all types and sizes across the UK and overseas, bringing digitalisation to lighting solutions and transforming the way people live and work. You will be a senior member of our lighting team which specializes in all aspects of lighting, supporting interior and exterior architectural lighting schemes from concept through to construction with sustainability and net zero carbon at the forefront.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating innovative lighting solutions across a wide range of specialist, architectural and multi-disciplinary projects, including commercial, residential, and public spaces.
  • Manage and deliver lighting projects from initial concept through completion to final handover.
  • Provide both conceptual and technical lighting consultancy and design support for diverse interior and exterior projects.
  • Present design concepts and proposals to clients and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine and finalise design solutions.
  • Continuously engaging with customers and stakeholders to ensure lighting solutions integrate seamlessly with overall project goals including development of innovative low carbon solutions in a responsive and client focussed manner.
  • Support technical leadership within the team and provide guidance to our clients.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with architects, interior designers, mechanical electrical and public health engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Participate in project meetings and site visits to assess lighting needs and installation progress.
  • Promoting the benefits of good lighting design both within AtkinsRéalis and externally at industry events.
  • Ensuring all work is delivered to a high level of quality and professionalism on time and to budget.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience gained from delivering a wide variety of specialist and architectural lighting concepts and designs for interior and exterior applications.
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles, sustainable design practices and electrical systems.
  • Experience with advanced lighting control systems and smart technologies.
  • Ability to use and interrogate lighting design / analysis specific software and tools to create accurate and visually appealing lighting renderings.
  • Proficiency in lighting design and rendering software (including but not limited to DIALux or Relux, AutoCAD, Revit, Daylight study software, Enscape, Photoshop).
  • Experience of preparing various type and format of project and design deliverables such as specifications, schedules, registers, reports among others.
  • Ability to prepare documentation and reports required for regulatory approvals.
  • Knowledge and experience, recognised by peers as being an expert in lighting.
  • Ability to apply lighting standards and your experience in such a way to deliver the clients vision and requirements.
  • Experience of national and international standards along with specific client requirements including safety regulations, and sustainability certification such as BREEAM, LEED.
  • Ability to understand the key client drivers and propose innovative low carbon solutions.
  • Experience in a wide range of stakeholder engagement including with clients and contractors.
  • Up to date on the latest lighting technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
