We are looking to recruit a Associate Architect, to further expand our Building Design teams in Newcastle. This opportunity would ideally suit someone looking to work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment where they will be given the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and to take real responsibility throughout the full design lifecycle. Our teams work on several projects across sectors including education, regeneration, commercial, transport, energy, defense, as well as heritage and urban redevelopment. working with a national and global network of creative individuals all with the share aspirational goal of design excellence. The role would be ideal for those looking to take ownership of multiple projects to run from concept through to delivery whilst including managing a small team of assistants.
Your purpose:
- Our primary focus is to ensure our architects are challenged towards professional growth within a new team, exposing Architects to the multi-disciplined environment and client-facing opportunities.
- To manage and inspire a team through strong and inclusive leadership. • Sustaining and developing relationships with existing and new clients.
- To ensure design responses are pragmatic and respond to the client briefly
- whilst respecting the opportunities and constraints that each site affords, through climate, context and culture.
- To continue to develop designs that are firmly rooted with a strong narrative and that seek to enhance our reputation.
- Lead projects by providing design and technical leadership for major projects.
- Reporting on activity and analysis of feedback and success factors.
- Development of the design culture and capability of our multi-disciplinary design team(s).
What can you bring?
- The ideal candidate will have a RIBA Part 3 qualification, be an ARB registered with a demonstrable 5-10 years' experience on a wide range of complex projects at different stages with a good understanding of the UK Building Regulations.
- The ideal candidate will have experience across different sectors and provide a track record of designing and delivery sector led schemes from inception to completion whilst leading multi-disciplinary teams, providing contractor interface and acting as the main client contact.
- Highly skilled and passionate designer committed to deliver design excellence at all stages of the design and construction process.
- Be proficient in using design software, specifically looking for experience with Revit, Adobe suite, Enscape or V-Ray and AutoCAD.
- We are looking for individuals who can consistently contribute to the successful delivery of complex, small, medium, and large-scale projects, and able to take responsibility for specific roles, areas or packages of work within a project, recognising the importance of the project budget and programme.
- Supporting and mentoring staff through Part 1 and 2 is fundamental to this role, reviewing work to help drive the design quality and output.
- A flexible approach to working with a positive and 'can-do' attitude, self-motivated and committed individual who can be both clear thinkers but have the willingness to be a strong team player.
- The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in preparing high quality written design deliverables and in preparing and giving presentations to clients and stakeholders.
- The ideal candidate will have experience of understanding and leading multidisciplinary design work, including managing and coordinating specialist designers and consultants where appropriate.
- Design and Business Development, having a proven track record of developing client relationships, leading bid opportunities and securing new business.
