AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to various markets including Highway, Local Transport, Rail, Private Development, Energy, and Water. Our key clients include HS2, Highways England, and Network Rail, along with many UK water companies. An opportunity has arisen for a Drainage Design or Surface Water Management Specialist to join our Birmingham team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects both nationally and internationally.
The Individual:
- The successful candidate should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the drainage sector and possess excellent technical skills across various markets. They will play a key role in designing sustainable drainage systems for infrastructure and transportation projects, supporting leadership in developing our capabilities and market offerings.
The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified, with or nearing professional accreditation, and have broad experience including:
- Leading drainage design delivery for standalone and larger multidisciplinary projects.
- Designing drainage systems from concept to detailed design; construction experience is a plus but not essential.
- Proficiency in digital software solutions for drainage design, supported by solid engineering knowledge.
- Experience working within a BIM environment, including 3D modelling and data management.
- Overseeing and checking drainage designs, models, calculations, and drawings to meet standards, and contributing to technical assurance.
- Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Managing stakeholder relationships within the UK regulatory framework.
- Assigning and managing drainage design tasks to meet programme and budget requirements.
- Contributing to bid preparations and fee proposals, considering programme and risk factors.
- Supporting the development of junior team members.
