Atkinson Moss Engineering recruitment have been engaged to support a major player in the UK food industry, currently undergoing an era of significant investment and operational scaling. They are seeking a high-calibre Technical Manager to act as their primary technical interface with major UK retailers and foodservice partners. This is a role for a leader who values integrity, precision, and the challenge of maintaining \”gold-standard\” compliance in a high-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

As the Technical Manager, you will be the guardian of food safety, quality, and legality. This is a high-visibility role where you will manage the site’s Technical and QA functions, ensuring that customer confidence remains at an all-time high.

Key Responsibilities:

* Customer Advocacy: Act as the lead technical contact for major UK retailers, hosting site visits, factory tours, and high-level technical meetings.

* Audit Excellence: Co-lead and host BRCGS, regulatory (FSA/DEFRA), and customer audits, ensuring proactive readiness and timely close-out of actions.

* Safety & Compliance: Own the site’s Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and HACCP systems, overseeing allergen controls, traceability, and product integrity.

* Strategic Leadership: Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing Technical/QA team, embedding a culture of \”Right First Time\” across the facility.

* Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with NPD, Operations, and Engineering to ensure technical risks are mitigated while supporting continuous improvement.

Who You Are

You are a credible, professional Technical leader with a deep understanding of the pressures and complexities of high-risk food manufacturing.

* Experienced: You have a proven track record as a Technical Manager within the Poultry, Meat, or High-Risk/Chilled food sectors.

* Retailer-Ready: You have extensive experience managing technical relationships with major UK retailers and understand their specific Codes of Practice.

* Technical Expert: You are HACCP Level 3 (or above) qualified with an in-depth knowledge of BRCGS standards and UK food legislation. xiskglj

* Communicator: You are calm under pressure, commercially aware, and able to provide risk-based advice to senior leadership.
