AtkinsRĂ©alis' Growth Markets business covers all aspects of advisory and multiâdisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. We are growing and wish to recruit an outstanding Bid Writer to join our team. This role will support our Win Work mission by writing compelling, highâquality proposals that win work across all our Markets â Aviation, Defence, Ireland, Power & Industrial, and Water.
You will work closely with technical experts, business leaders, and the wider win work team to develop responses that clearly articulate our compelling value proposition and align with each client's requirements. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer with a passion for storytelling and a strategic mindset to make an impact on the growth of our business.
Whilst the core focus of this role is to create compelling written bid content, the postholder will also support development of Win Work collateral in the form of case studies. The role will also be a subject matter expert for bid writing within the Business Development Directorate team, setting and championing best practice, and supporting development of bid writing skills across our workforce. The role will report to the Head of Win Work Services.
Your role
- Lead the development and writing of highâquality, clientâfocused proposals and tender responses.
- Collaborate with technical teams to translate complex information into clear, persuasive written content.
- Ensure all submissions are compliant, compelling, and client focused.
- Support the development of bid strategies, win themes, and value propositions.
- Develop, manage and maintain a library of reusable content and case studies and contribute information to the Proposals Information Hub.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of bid processes, tools, and templates.
- Participate in bid reviews and lessons learned sessions.
About you
- Proven experience writing winning bids in a consulting, engineering and technology environment.
- Strong understanding of the Shipley proposal development process or similar structured bid methodologies.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills with a keen eye and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical information and present it in a clientâfriendly format.
- Familiarity with public and private sector procurement processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Proactive, selfâmotivated, and able to work as part of a team.
- Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Resilient under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities.
- APMP certification or equivalent is advantageous.
- Experience working in a matrixed or global organisation.
- Experience with proposal automation tools.
