Our team is looking for engineers with an understanding of electrical engineering, power systems, and energy markets, who are keen to develop their knowledge and make a meaningful contribution to the energy sector. In this role, you'll be part of a team working on substation design projects, with a focus on electricity transmission and distribution networks. You'll also have opportunities to support projects across the wider Power & Energy Solutions team and AtkinsRéalis business. Some of our clients include National Grid, SSEN, in addition to other organisations both in the UK and internationally. You'll gain experience delivering multi-disciplinary design projects from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to Detailed Design. This role also offers personal development, training, and support towards chartership, with plenty of opportunity to get involved in a wide range of impactful projects.
You will be working in a senior position within one of our Electrical Engineering teams based either in Epsom, Birmingham, Leeds or Glasgow. Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You'll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You'll be client focused – being able to interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.
- Provide Technical Leadership on the FEED and Detail Design workstream for National Grid, SSEN-Transmission or other Transmission & Distribution clients.
- Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed Design and bids for our clients.
- Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and Detailed Design.
- Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, elevations, maintenance access drawings, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
- Act as Principal Designer Representative when required.
- Coordination with back-office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
- Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
- Ability to attend and chair the Design Review and Hazard Review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
- Attending site visits for clients.
- Communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
- Customer focused, identifying their needs along with business development skills.

Experience in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Primary Plant design. Preferably up to 400kV but not essential. Minimum 2.2 BEng in an Electrical Engineering discipline, Energy Systems or Renewable Energy. Typical locations: Birmingham, Epsom, Glasgow, Leeds.
