We’re hiring an experienced Construction Estimator to join a well‑established main contractor delivering high‑quality projects across Nottingham and the wider Midlands. Role
As a Senior Estimator you’ll lead pricing and tendering activities for construction projects, report to the Pre‑Construction Manager and help secure a strong pipeline of work. You’ll influence bid strategies, support business growth across multiple sectors, and collaborate closely with pre‑construction and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage tender evaluations to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Analyse project requirements, specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier enquiries to obtain competitive quotations and deliver value for money.
- Collaborate with pre‑construction and project teams to develop robust bid strategies.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of market trends, material pricing and labour costs.
- Support post‑tender negotiations and provide cost breakdowns as required.
- Undertake quantity take‑off and cost planning activities using industry‑standard estimating software.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, Senior Estimator or Cost Estimator within a main contracting environment.
- Background from a main contractor with framework experience (JCT, NEC contracts).
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in estimating software, quantity take‑off tools and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND in Construction or Quantity Surveying are highly desirable.
