The Associate Director Project Manager role is a senior leadership role responsible for the successful delivery of multiple construction projects across a diverse portfolio. Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, the role provides strategic project management expertise from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Based within a growing Manchester office, you will play a key part in supporting regional expansion while working closely with colleagues across the wider business. The position combines hands-on project leadership with a strong commercial and business development focus, overseeing procurement, contract administration, and risk management, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. As part of the leadership team, the Associate Director will contribute to business growth, strengthen cross-office collaboration, and mentor junior staff, helping to shape the future direction of the region.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and deliver multiple construction projects from inception through to completion, ensuring programme, cost, quality, and commercial objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Act as a trusted client advisor, providing strategic project management guidance and proactive solutions across complex developments.
  • Take full responsibility for procurement strategies, contract administration, and risk management, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and building regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders, to drive high-quality outcomes and effective collaboration.
  • Play a key role in business development, identifying new opportunities, supporting bids and proposals, and cultivating long-term client relationships.
  • Contribute to the growth and leadership of the consultancy by mentoring junior team members, sharing best practice, and supporting operational and strategic initiatives, working closely with the wider business.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and meet financial targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement and best practices across all projects.

To be successful, you will align with our requirements and bring:

  • Chartered status (MRICS, MCIOB, MAPM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in project management within a consultancy environment, with a proven track record of leading major projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience in business development and client management across the Northwest market.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts and construction procurement processes.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of a full project life cycle with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Full UK driving licence for site visits across the Northwest and surrounding areas.
  • Ambitious, proactive, driven, and keen to play a key role in a growing consultancy.
  • Flexible to travel to other offices within Yorkshire.
