AtkinsClarke are seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to join a high‑growth, PE‑backed group on a part‑time basis (2 days per week). Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, this newly created role is pivotal in strengthening the organisation’s technical accounting expertise, supporting reporting accuracy, and ensuring compliance within a complex and evolving group structure. Finance plays a critical role in supporting this growth, and this position will sit at the heart of technical accounting, governance, and external reporting.
As Financial Accounting Manager you will become the go‑to person for all technical accounting, reporting and compliance matters. You will take ownership of the year‑end process and act as the main point of contact for the external auditors, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency across the Group. Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and leading the annual statutory accounts process
- Acting as primary point of contact for external auditors
- Advising on technical accounting matters under UK GAAP / IFRS
- Reviewing and strengthening accounting policies and controls
- Supporting the Group Financial Controller on complex reporting issues
- Advising on accounting implications of acquisitions and restructuring
- Keeping the business up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations
- Acting as technical support to the wider finance function
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with a strong practice‑trained background, ideally within a top‑10 or mid‑tier audit / advisory firm. You will bring:
- Deep technical knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
- Strong year‑end and statutory reporting experience
- Proven ability to manage external auditors
- A pragmatic, solutions‑focused mindset
- Confidence working autonomously in a senior advisory capacity
- Experience within PE‑backed or acquisitive environments (desirable)
- Availability to work 2 days per week in the office
