AtkinsClarke are supporting a national, purpose-led organisation with the appointment of several Trustees to strengthen and reshape its Board. These are key appointments at an important point in the organisation’s journey, as it moves through a period of transformation and into its next phase of growth and stability.
Opportunities are available across Finance (including Audit & Risk Committee Chair), HR and Operational / Service Delivery expertise.
Our client is a well-established, nationwide charity providing critical support and advocacy services to vulnerable individuals across the UK. Operating at scale and with a strong social purpose, the organisation plays a vital role within its sector. Following a period of change and internal review, the charity is now focused on strengthening governance, enhancing leadership capability and positioning itself for long-term sustainability and impact. As a Trustee, you will play a key role in providing strategic oversight, governance and constructive challenge to the executive team. You will contribute to Board discussions, support decision-making and help ensure the organisation delivers against its objectives while maintaining strong financial and operational control.
- Providing strategic guidance and oversight to the executive leadership team
- Ensuring strong governance, compliance and risk management
- Contributing to Board and sub-committee meetings (quarterly)
- Supporting organisational strategy, performance and long-term sustainability
- Bringing independent challenge and specialist expertise to key decisions
- Acting in the best interests of the organisation and its beneficiaries
The Finance Trustee will also have the opportunity to chair the Audit & Risk Committee, playing a critical role in financial oversight and governance.
We are looking for experienced, credible individuals who can operate effectively at Board level and bring relevant expertise to the organisation. You will bring:
- Senior leadership experience (e.g. Director level or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of governance and Trustee responsibilities
- Expertise in one of the following areas: Finance (ideally with experience suitable to chair Audit & Risk), HR / People / Organisational Development, Operations / Service Delivery / Advocacy
- The ability to provide constructive challenge and strategic insight
- A genuine motivation to contribute to a purpose-led organisation
- Experience within the charity, public sector or regulated environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
Voluntary Trustee position (reasonable expenses reimbursed). Opportunity to join a national organisation with meaningful social impact. Board-level experience within a complex and evolving organisation. Exposure to strategic decision-making and governance. 3-year term (renewable, up to a maximum of 9 years). Time commitment: Quarterly Board meetings plus sub-committee involvement.
