We’re seeking a Fire Safety Manager / Authorised Engineer (Fire) to support several NHS Trusts, acting as a key advisor and assurance provider across fire safety compliance and strategy. This is a senior, high-impact role offering the opportunity to influence fire safety at scale within complex healthcare environments. You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy, engaging directly with senior leadership teams while ensuring compliance with NHS fire safety standards, including HTM Firecode.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the appointed Authorised Engineer (Fire), providing independent assurance in line with HTM Fire codes
- Oversee, review, and complete Primary and Secondary Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) across multiple NHS sites, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and NHS fire safety guidance
- Provide strategic fire safety advice to senior stakeholders, including Trust Boards
- Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across healthcare estates
- Support the development and implementation of fire safety policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Collaborate with Estates teams, consultants, and external partners to ensure practical, compliant solutions
- Act as a subject matter expert for complex fire safety challenges and escalations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation, NHS guidance, and best practice
- Proven experience as a Fire Safety Manager, Authorised Engineer, or senior fire safety professional
- Experience working within the NHS or healthcare environments is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of NHS fire safety standards, particularly HTM
- Extensive experience managing and reviewing Primary and Secondary FRAs
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging at Board level
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on technical delivery
- £60,000 – £85,000 salary depending on experience
