Our client is a well-established environmental, health & safety and compliance consultancy operating across the UK and internationally. They support a diverse portfolio including commercial offices, retail estates, industrial facilities, media organisations, and mixed-use developments. Due to continued growth and increasing demand for higher-level technical support, they are seeking a Fire Risk, Health and Safety Consultant (Mid to Senior Level) to join their team. The role is predominantly Fire Risk Assessor focused.
The Role
This is a senior position requiring a high level of technical competence, professional judgement, and client-facing capability. You will be responsible for delivering complex fire risk assessments and providing clear, practical advice to ensure compliance with UK fire safety legislation. You will also contribute to more advanced technical work, particularly in relation to existing and non-compliant buildings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering PAS 79-compliant fire risk assessments across a range of complex property types
- Providing expert advice in relation to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act, and associated regulations
- Involvement in the development of retrospective fire strategies, with structured training and support provided to further develop capability in this area
- Health & Safety assessments
- Producing high-quality, client-ready reports with clear and proportionate recommendations
- Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, supporting informed decision-making
- Reviewing and quality assuring fire risk assessments (Principal level)
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Contributing to service development and technical standards
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in undertaking fire risk assessments within commercial or complex multi-site environments
- Strong working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and guidance
- Experience dealing with complex or higher-risk buildings, including legacy compliance issues
- Ability to produce clear, well-structured technical reports
- Confident communicator with experience managing client relationships
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. IFE, IFSM, NEBOSH Fire) or equivalent professional development
- Membership of a professional body (desirable)
