Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead a specialist substance misuse service, delivering high-quality care and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals with complex addiction and mental health needs.

Salary: Up to £149,713 + enhancements

Position: Consultant Psychiatrist

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Setting: Substance misuse / community addiction service

Location: Birmingham

Key responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and ongoing clinical reviews
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering addiction services
  • Ensure adherence to best practice guidelines and clinical standards
  • Participate in consultant on‐call rota for inpatient unit
  • Contribute to service performance and contractual targets
  • Support BBV testing and vaccination initiatives within the service
  • Engage in CPD, appraisal, and professional development activities

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • MRCPsych or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Strong knowledge of addiction psychiatry and mental health legislation
  • Experience in substance misuse and co‐occurring mental health conditions
  • Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
