Athona is currently recruiting for a Band 6 Sexual Health Practitioner to join a well-established Integrated Sexual Health Service in Croydon.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality sexual and reproductive healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily delivery of Integrated Sexual Health Services and assist in supervising junior staff.
- Respond to and manage operational issues during clinical shifts.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Undertake practitioner-led clinics, including comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
- Provide expert clinical advice and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and sexual health conditions.
- Act as a clinical specialist, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues.
- Deliver high-quality patient care, health promotion, and sexual health education.
- Prescribe under Patient Group Directions (PGDs) or as an Independent Prescriber, including hormonal contraception and STI treatments.
- Perform the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Significant experience working within sexual health and contraception services.
- Competent in undertaking sexual health assessments and practitioner-led clinics.
- Experience prescribing under PGDs or qualified as an Independent Prescriber (desirable).
- Competent in contraceptive implant insertion and removal.
- Excellent communication, clinical assessment, and decision-making skills.
