Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an NMC registered mental health nurse at our client’s base in Birmingham. You will provide quality care to all patients across secure patient transport and their therapeutic observational service. You will be responsible for the safety and well-being of patients whilst in the clients care and maintain the patient’s dignity throughout the service. You must demonstrate high levels of therapeutic care and deliver this across all business areas whilst leading a team of healthcare professionals in a potentially challenging environment.
Our client is a specialist operator in the mental health sector, providing a 24/7 rapid response service to more than 40 NHS Trusts, ICB and private hospitals across the UK. They are specialists in securing transportation and therapeutic observational care for people with various mental health needs and provide a premium service with rapid response times with highly trained and compassionate staff. The teams are made up of RMN’s and care assistants who provide a bespoke wrap-around caretaking service with a holistic and therapeutic approach.
Your Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide care to individuals with a variety of mental health conditions, building therapeutic relationships.
- Manage the specific symptoms of mental illness, de-escalation and helping patients overcome challenges.
- Liaising with doctors, social workers and other professionals.
- Interacting with patients’ families and caregivers, offering advice and information on patients’ conditions.
- Prepare and maintain patient records, producing care plans and risk assessments.
- To provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care.
- If physical intervention with a patient is required, it is integral that you carry out this duty for your role.
- Lead a staff team, including HCA’s, throughout the patient conveyance or therapeutic observational service.
- Ensure you have adequate handover of the patient’s details, including the risk history and current presentation, from the Clinical Logistics Manager or health care professional responsible for the patient at the collection address.
- To provide crisis intervention to patients experiencing mental health difficulties during conveyance or therapeutic observational service.
- The ideal candidate is responsible for being aware of relevant national and local policies regarding safeguarding children and adults.
- Attend all appropriate training, meetings, and reviews.
- To maintain a professional attitude, approach, and response to the continuation of good working relationships between staff and patients throughout the transfer.
- Report accidents, complaints, and untoward incidents promptly to the Clinical Logistics Manager.
- Attend the Prometheus base at the required time as instructed by the Clinical Logistic Manager, and dress in line with the company uniform policy.
- Responsible for any other tasks deemed reasonable by the management team for the smooth running of the company.
- To assist the Operations Manager/Rota Manager in ensuring all staff follow agreed policies and procedures detailed by Prometheus.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
- Current Valid NMC Pin as an RMN.
- Excellent written and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
- Proactive and positive self-starter, well-organised with good time management skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Valid Enhanced DBS or on the update service.
- Full UK Driving Licence – we do not accept Provisional Driving Licences, as the role requires you to drive company ambulances.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Employment references for up to a 5-year period.
- Candidate will need minimum 3 years UK employment history.
