Job Description

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join the Adult Acute Services team providing high-quality care and therapeutic support in an inpatient setting.

The hospital offers a range of inpatient mental health services. The acute mental health wards support male and female patients during times of crisis, providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for individuals with conditions such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, depression, and bipolar disorder.

Responsibilities

  • Providing nursing care and acting as a named nurse for a defined group of patients.
  • Assessing, planning, and delivering care in partnership with patients and their families.
  • Engaging with service users to assess needs, monitor progress, and adapt care plans.
  • Promoting and adhering to the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) model in patient care.
  • Ensuring high standards of care and therapeutic engagement during inpatient stays.
  • Participating in quality improvement processes and clinical governance activities.
  • Providing clear and accessible information to patients and families regarding care.
  • Acting as the Nurse in Charge of the ward, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and effective communication within the team.
  • Supporting and contributing to multidisciplinary team (MDT) practices.

Qualifications

  • Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid PIN.
  • Knowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, and professional practices.
  • A positive attitude toward service improvement and commitment to quality care.
  • Ability to apply flexible and innovative approaches to nursing practice.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and IT literate.
