Athona Recruitment is offering a permanent Forensic Specialty Doctor position at a private inpatient service in the East Midlands, Lincoln. The role carries a salary of up to £90,000 per annum and a full‑time commitment of 37.5 hours per week. The unit comprises 28 low‑secure beds and operates on a 5‑day per week schedule.
Role Responsibilities:
- Undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit and determine appropriate level of care, under the direction and supervision of the consultant psychiatrist, while working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the care programme is delivered.
- Prepare discharge summaries, reports and other documentation, e.g. for CPA meetings, in line with consultant direction.
- Participate in learning activities, supervision and clinical governance activities; account for contracted time used in research, CPD and non‑clinical duties.
- Work effectively with colleagues to ensure medical cover at all times, including participation in an on‑call rota.
- Support the GP in delivering physical health care and emergency treatment to patients; induct new RMPs and provide cover during compensatory rest periods.
- Share responsibility for blood tests with the phlebotomist and RMO as required.
- Arrange appropriate clinical investigations, chase results and act on them promptly.
- Ensure physical observations are carried out as per medical instructions, review findings and act clinically.

Requirements:
- Full GMC registration.
- 12 months of adult psychiatry experience.
- Relevant experience in a similar setting (preferred).
- Proven record of CPD.
- Previous mental‑health inpatient experience desirable.
- Positive attitude and commitment to quality improvement.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice.
- Evidence of post‑registration continuing professional development (preferred).
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred).
- Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent (preferred).
