This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist with inpatient experience who is passionate about improving outcomes for adults in crisis.
Salary: Up to £165k dependant on experience
Position: Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Setting: Acute inpatient – mixed-gender, trauma-informed service
Location: Clacton On Sea, Essex
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Acting as Responsible Clinician (RC) for a mixed-gender inpatient service
- Managing admission, treatment, and discharge in line with the Mental Health Act
- Leading the Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Internal Case Review (ICR) processes
- Supporting the delivery of NICE guidance and ensuring high clinical standards
- Working alongside a Lead Consultant Psychiatrist and junior doctors
- Supporting clinical governance and contributing to continuous service improvement
- Participating in the Consultant on-call rota
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Consultant-level experience in adult inpatient psychiatry
- Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility)
- Sound knowledge of current legislation, NICE guidance, and change management
