Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse to join a dynamic team in a mental health secure and/or acute setting. This role offers a balance of clinical duties alongside managerial responsibilities, where you’ll have the chance to lead a team, supervise staff, and contribute to the overall care program. It’s a great opportunity for someone with experience in forensic or acute settings, and we’re keen to support ambitious candidates who want to develop their career further.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supervising the nursing team on the ward.
- Ensuring the ward meets safety, therapeutic, and statutory standards.
- Providing clinical supervision and supporting staff development.
- Assessing and managing patient risk in a collaborative approach.
- Contributing to multi-disciplinary team working and care planning.
- Acting as the role model and shift leader on duty.
- Deputising for the Ward Manager as required.
- Addressing staffing deficits and ensuring safe staffing levels.
- Promoting a culture of learning, inquiry, and development.
- Managing ward resources effectively and efficiently.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:
- At least 3 years’ post-registration experience in mental health.
- Experience in forensic or acute settings (preferred).
- Active NMC Registration and evidence of Revalidation.
- Clinical supervision and leadership experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ambition and a desire to progress in nursing leadership.
- Ability to work flexibly within shift patterns.
