Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse to join a dynamic team in a mental health secure and/or acute setting. This role offers a balance of clinical duties alongside managerial responsibilities, where you’ll have the chance to lead a team, supervise staff, and contribute to the overall care program. It’s a great opportunity for someone with experience in forensic or acute settings, and we’re keen to support ambitious candidates who want to develop their career further.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising the nursing team on the ward.
  • Ensuring the ward meets safety, therapeutic, and statutory standards.
  • Providing clinical supervision and supporting staff development.
  • Assessing and managing patient risk in a collaborative approach.
  • Contributing to multi-disciplinary team working and care planning.
  • Acting as the role model and shift leader on duty.
  • Deputising for the Ward Manager as required.
  • Addressing staffing deficits and ensuring safe staffing levels.
  • Promoting a culture of learning, inquiry, and development.
  • Managing ward resources effectively and efficiently.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • At least 3 years’ post-registration experience in mental health.
  • Experience in forensic or acute settings (preferred).
  • Active NMC Registration and evidence of Revalidation.
  • Clinical supervision and leadership experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ambition and a desire to progress in nursing leadership.
  • Ability to work flexibly within shift patterns.
